Should work. I'm using it now but haven't used enough to say much about it. It's clean, a bit slower than 7828 and about the same burning rate as RL25.

It is "THE" powder for my 300 Win Mag. 80 grains topped off with a 200 grain Swift A-Frame is one of my "do everyting" loads.

DOWNWINDTRACKER2, I've used H-1000 in two different cartridges and suggested to a friend for his .30-378. My cartridges were the 7MM Rem. Mag. and the .300 Win. Mag. In the 7MM RM it didn't come into its own until bullets 160 grain and heavier were used. It's a supriseingly clean burning powder. and gave excellent accuracy and velocities. In the .300WM Rem. Sendero model it hit its stride starting with the 180 grain bullets. Same results as with the 7MM RM. In the .30-378 The friend has just started playing with it, but so far is very happy with it. He's found a promiseing load and is now running seating depth test. He's using the 180 grain Barnes bullet. Good luck.

Shoots xtremely well in my 300win mag w/200gr bullets and also in my 7mm mag with 162gr bullets at max published loadings.

Thank-you for the replies. It sounds like a good powder, usually works.Which is more than I can say about some, great or not at all. That's as much as we can ask, before we use it.Let's hope it's not a picky rifle.

I've used it a 338-378 and gotten good velocity at reasonable pressure. Very low extreme spreads for the loads I tested in that rifle.

I've been tinkering with H1000 and R25 in my 22/6mm's and a 243/06. I use it primarily for the heavier bullets, 80g and 100+g respectively. I typically use H4831SC for the intermediate bullet weights. As for H1000 and R25, the standard deviations and relative standard deviations of several loads shot over an Oehler chronograph are very close. Here is some velocity data: H1000: 69g .224 bullet, 48g H1000, 362117 80g .224 bullet, 50g H1000, 342415 70g .243 bullet, 58g H1000, 358421 100g .243 bullet, 55g H1000, 331213 105g .243 bullet, 55g H1000, 329010 107g .243 bullet, 55g H1000, 32788, & 331725 R25: 80g .224 bullet, 47.3g R25, 335722 80g .224 bullet, 48g R25, 344813 80g .224 bullet, 50g R25, 356823 85g .243 bullet, 58g R25, 371714 100g .243 bullet, 55g R25, 35015 107g .243 bullet, 55g R25, 347815 107g .243 bullet, 55g R25, 34678 107g .243 bullet, 55g R25, 346319 Statistically I think I like R25 just a bit better, especially with the .243 bullets, even though this isn't a very large data pool from which to judge. R25 is a bit more expensive if that's a concern. If it is I might mention that Natchez has H1000 8# kegs on sale for $99. My next step in comparing these two is to do a load test over a 2 grain range with three rounds loaded in 0.2g increments. I'm looking for both a velocity and accuracy sweet spot. Quite frankly, whichever gives me the largest sweet spot is the one I will standardize upon. Good luck and I hope that helps. Reed

I find H1000 to be pretty accurate with my 6.5-284 with bullets in the 120 to 140grn range and completely inaccurate with 100grn Hornadys.

Reed Got about the same velocities with H1000 in my 22-284 using the heavy VLD bullets. H1000 is a very consistent powder. Works well in most of my cartridges.
