Looking for something 200 grain or less that I can load hot and make go berry fast. Hornady shows a load for 44 mag that pushes a 200 xtp 200ish fps. Anyone know of any 45 slugs that I can crimp and make go fast?

Wow my typing sucks. Looking for 2000 fps. Actually wouldn't hafta be quite that fast. I'm just looking for something light that can go fast. My 230 grain led does OK but want something lighter if I can find it And would feel more comfortable if it had a crimp groove.

they make cast 160 gr rnfp's specifically for the 45 colt.
you'll probably do better with 185gr bullets for the 45 acp.
put your own canellure on them then you can seat them out further.
you could also trim back 454 casull cases to gain some more capacity.
you can get about 28-29 grs of aa-1680 in the extended case easy nuff.

this is in no way reloading data from a book but if you want fast your gonna have to go there.

Is there one specific company that makes those 165 grain slugs? Be fun to try. I wonder if I could find some loading data anywhere for the lighter slugs. I wonder how 2400 or h110 would act with those.

Both 2400 and H110 would probably be too slow for a 165-grain bullet. You can find Hodgdon data for the 225 Speer bullet - with cannelure - reaching almost 1600 fps at under 30,000 psi with Lil'Gun. A 200-grain bullet should be able to reach 1800 safely, but since Speer discontinued selling their flying ashtray I know of no lightweight jacketed bullet with a cannelure. As stated above, you can roll your own groove with the CH4D tool.

How long of a barrel are you using? From a 20" lever action rifle, yeah you can go that fast.
From a 6" pistol 2000 fps just ain't happening. They tried for years with the 454 Casull and 240 & 260 grain bullets and never exceeded 1950 fps. An 8" pressure barrel without a cylinder gap will let a 454 get just over 2000 fps, but out of an actual revolver the same load will peak at 1950 fps.
There isn't enough inertia in that light of a bullet to let a slow enough powder burn efficiently enough to hit 2000 fps.
