You guessed it, I bit on the 8lb keg deal at Natchez. Anyone use this powder with any luck in these calibers? I'll be shooting 40 to 55 grain pills.

Thanks,
Chris

I also found it to be very accurate in .223.

Oddly enough it's excellent in .308 pushing 110g fmj out of my Remington 700 22" barrel at about 3225 fps with standard deviations of 10 to 15. I'm seeing 0.5" to 0.75" 7 shot groups @ 100 yards (that's outside diameter measurement not center to center) very consistently.

if 2230C is, as reported, a bit slower than 2230, you should be able to use the starting loads for 2230 to begin. Let us know how it does as I'm thinking about biting too.

I loaded some different combinations up with 2230C in the 22-250. I did things backwards since I have 8 lbs to shoot. I changed bullets and primers instead of powders. Anyway I had really good luck in my Tikka Whitetail with 55gr Sierra Spitzer high velocity bullets, 35 gr 2230C and CCI BR2 primer, Rem cases.
50 gr Bal Tips and VMax shot okay too. I tried some Federal magnum primers and they did well but need more testing with the 55gr spitzers. I loaded 10 different combos up with varied seating depth, BR2 and Fed Mag primers, and the 55gr spitzer for the next shooting session.
The 2230C did just as good and better than other powders I've tried in the Tikka.
Planning on trying some in the 222 Vixen soon too.
Will post results when it happens.

Chris

I also bought the 8lb.of 2230c. And this stuff is working great in my Rem. 700 in 22-250 with 35.4gr. and a Rem. 9 1/2 mag primer.
It's also working great in my Ruger 30-06

I had a really interesting time with 2230-S about 8 or 9 yrs ago. I was loading for an AR-15 and a Sako and tried 24.5 grs and got 3250fps. I went up a grain and got 3400fps. Then I went up a half grain and ripped the extracter off the AR. It cronographed at 3550 with a 55gr fmj. I wnt back to 24grs at 3150. All loads were under 1".
This ranked right up there with the primers falling out of my 6mm load because I loaded an 87gr instead of a 75gr.
Foolish things I have done #34625!
