Wondering what kind of velocities everyone is getting with the 7mm-08 ? Looking for 22 inch barrel speed preferably. Most reloading manuals are showing 26 inch figures. Thanks.

I'm getting around 2800fps with 140gr Sierras and Varget powder. I haven't Chronied any loads with 140 Nosler BT's, but I'm sure they will be close. 120gr Nosler BT's were kicking just over 3000fps, but very innaccurate.
These were out of my 22" barrel A-bolt.

I can get 2800 with 140 grain bullets with 41.5 gr IMR 4320 out of my 22" barrel. 46 grains of H414 is about 75 fps faster, but doesn't shoot as well as the loads using H4895 or IMR 4320 in my rifle.

My Mod 70FW (22" tube) does 2950ish with 120 Sierra's and RL15. Data on 130-140 gr weights will require perusing my reloading log.
I seldom see book velocities, even with max loadings, but likely it's the 22" barrel.
Great cartridge!

My BLR and Model 70 compact both have 20 inch barrels. Remington green box 140 grain clocks at about 2750 average. Some older Federal 140 grain partition clocks about 100 fps less at about 2650. My only handload (so far) has been 42 grains of H4350 with a 175 grain Hornady spire point. It clocks 2350 out of a 20 inch barrel. I think that you could use more than 42 grains, but it is compressed at 42 grain. Seated on the canalure. Feeds fine out of both.

Sticking w/Horn139SST load from Hornady, 2900fps+ in my Rem700ADL. I have also loaded up to this same velocity using RL15. My accuracy load that I shoot silhouettes with is same bullet, IMR4064 around 2750fps.

Checked my log:
140 Sierra/51.0gr RL19 / 2830 fps avg
130 Speer flat base/ 44.0gr Varget /2858 avg
and several 120gr loads exceeded 3K; one load is 120 Sierra / 46.0gr Varget/ 3030 avg

All loads using R-P case /9-1/2 primer

With 140s, 2800-2900fps.

2900 is the ragged edge in a 22" barrel.

I have had good results with Vv N550 in the 7mm-08 with 140s

IMR 4064 has worked well but 2800 is about the ceiling.

WW Factory load 140 PP 2716
Varget 42, 140 NSLR AB 2711

What loads are you guys using to reach 2800 fps?
My Nosler book and AA book show these to be max loads.

May try H4350, H414, H4895, or RL 15 next.

M700 22" Ti:

140 Grain TSX:
H4350 49.5 2825 fps very accurate

H414 49.5 2890 fps accurate (H414 gives me the highest velosity with 140 grain bullets but varies according to temperature)

120 Grain TSX:
RL15 44 grains 3050 fps
Varget 45 grains 3080 fps very accurate (limited testing)

i've loaded the 7mm-08 for about 10 years tried ererthing from 3031 to 4350. i have settled on RL-15. it gives the best volcity with accuracy. i load 44 grains of RL-15 with WLR primer from a 24 in. rem. 700 S.S. with a 140 grain sierra B.T. shot over a croney at 2944 fps. and less than 1 in groups at 100 meters.

Trigger,

I am with vines. In my Rem700ADL-22" barrel I shoot 139SST's for silhouette competition out to 385m (I switch to 168MK's for 500m), antelope, and deer. My hunting load is 43.5gr RL15 with R-P brass and FedGM210Match primers for a chronied velocity of 2911fps. Hornady states 41.9gr is max for the 139SST, but I get safe pressure indications less than or identical to other published max loads with the 43.5gr. Hornady also has a load of 49.9gr of H414 for 2900fps, but I got to my max pressure indicators at 49.4gr and a velocity of 2902fps. Ken Waters has published loads with Horn 139's and WW760 (which I find close to H414) that he gets velocities in the mid 2900's. My silhouette load with the 139's is 41.1gr IMR4064 for 2742fps and 5/8MOA groups. I am hoping to work more with the RL15 to be as accurate as the IMR4064, but with more velocity than the IMR4064.
