I have been loading for a 100 year old Savage bolt action .32-20 using Speer 100 gr JHP and Hornady 90 gr SWC (pistol bullets). Not a lot of data out there and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions about bullets, powder, loadings etc. I'm not trying to ring out the hottest loads just see how much accuracy/consistancy I can get from an old rifle with modern components. The current manuals have 32-20 data. You rifle is not the strongest design so some of the data is probably not advisable for your rifle.

I have a Handloader Magazine with four levels of loads for the 32-20 corresponding to 4 levels of gun strength. I have a 100 year old Colt 32-20 revolver that I loaded with 17 gr H110 85 gr FMJ 1.54". Extreme top hat primer and the case was stuck in the chamber. My general experience with 32 cal rimmed pistol cartridges is that they go from wimpy to stuck case with a small change in powder charge. I normally work up in 1 gr increments, but that is too crude for the little 32s.
