I'm going to start loading for a 7mm RUM and looking for some starter loads. I've got some 140 accubonds and imr7828 that I use in my 7mm STW. Anybody got any pet loads they want to share?

Here is what I've found here and other sites:
IMR7828 max load of 87-88 grains

I figure I would start out around 83 grains and work my way up.

You would be better off stepping up to the Nosler 160 grain Accubond for a number of reasons.

Firstly, to take advantage of the large case capacity of the Rum, maxinize it with a high BC(.531 160 AB, .485 140 AB) and SD (.283 160 AB, .243 140 AB)bullet.

Secondly, Nosler reccomend a maximum impact velocity of 3100fps with their accubond bullets. The 140 AB would not drop to this speed out to 200 yards or so, meaning that this bullet could fail to some extent inside 200 yards. The 160 AB on the other hand should have dropper below 3100fps before reaching 100 yards.

No significant difference in trajectory out to 500 yards with the 160AB delivering an extra 100ft lbs of energy at that range.

Thanks for the tip, didn't know they recommended such a low velocity. I haven't had any trouble out of my stw with the 140's, may look to the 160s.
