Sorry, no experience with H4895 but I've used a book maximum charge of IMR4350 under both the Sierra and Hornady 220 gr roundnose soft. The Sierra was a quarter inch or so more accurate than the Hornady. In 21 and 22 inch guns the Hornady load clocked about 2350 fps. FWIW the Hornady slug is pretty soft. | |||

My experience with QL is that the threshold of short brass life in a Mauser case head [like a 30-06] will be ~67kpsi ~77kpsi. The lower end if you jam the bullet in the lands the higher end if you don't. The Sierra book says 43.6 gr IMR4895, which QL thinks is 43,620 psi 2253 fps. At 43,620 psi with H4895, QL say 41.4 gr H4895 2160 fps, which I have marked in red. I have marked where I think I would wind up in purple. I have a large quantity of 220 gr RN, but they are Hornady. That bullet is slow and is going to get slower, if you use those low pressures and less than optimum powder: Tabular trajectory data at Std.ICAO Atmosphere ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gun / Ammunition : .30-06 Spring. I haven't found accuracy with H 4895 for some reaaon, it seems to always elude me... I favor the 220 grain RN in the 06 myself.. my two charges usually are 46 grains of IMR 4064 for 2400 fps MV... or 54 grains of IMR 4350 for an MV of 2500 fps using SR 4759 and IMR 41908 or H 4198 & RL 7 are also some good powders for the 2100 to the 2200 fps range.. each being highly accurate..
