ARC;
My load is 55gr Win PSP, 17gr IMR 4198, CCI 450 and full length resized Remington Brass!
I shoot a TC Encore with a 26 inch barrel. No high pressure signs!
Works for me, but I'm not saying that
this "will" be safe in your gun! Compare the data with the book!

I have shot my converted Rem 788 Fireball since '92, and it is a pleasure. I too bought a 700 Classic 221, but have not done much with it.
Loads: Used RE7 and H322 with great success, primarily with 40 and 45gr bullets. Drop tubes are usually required to get the desired powder in the case.
Then I started using AA1680 with either 40Vmax or 40 Sierra HP, with outstanding speed (3400fps) and accuracy (5 at 0.6"...good enough for me!).THEN along comes Hodgdon LilGun, and speed jumps to 3500+fps, with groups still in the 0.75" range. I have shot 30gr Bergers at 3700fps...what a hoot!
I seldom venture above the 45gr weight, saving those for my 223, but I know the Fireball will hit 3000fps with a 50gr pill.
The Hodgon site shows the LilGun loads, and though they report 3400fps max, I chrony all my loads, and have no reason to doubt the speed. I do shoot home-mollied bullets, but do not know if that's critical.
Almost exclusively use Rem 7 1/2 primers, just cuz.
Have fun!

I believe it's Handloader issue 130(?) from 1987 that has a great article by Ken Water on the Fireball. He used a Kimber for his load work.

I never tried it BUT Reloader 7 is supposed to be THE powder for this round.

I liked AA1680, used 17.9 grains under a 40 Sierra Blitzking. Very good accuracy, never did get em chrono'd......

I think you will find that somewhere between 17.5 and 18.0 (My personal favorite) of RL7 with a 50-52 grain Hornady will make you very very very happy. If this load misses then don't blame it on the load--look in the mirror. This load has always worked for me just touching the lands.

15.5 grs LilGun and 40 Barnes varminator makes for 3440 fps out of my Cz527. With 3 shot groups of.6 or less consistently.
