Is this good equipment. I am looking to upgrade the rcbs stuff I got as my son keeps relocateing it to his new place. I am also looking at redding.

You gotta love sons. He takes it out of the house and I bring new stuff. Wife says "what are you buying"? And I reply "stuff you gave to Joey". I'd in vest in a Rockchucker for a press, Ohaus for scales, Wilson and Sinclair for case trimming and preparation and a good set of micrometer seating dies. I am a methodical reloader so I weigh each charge so I still use my old Redding powder measure. NOt much into the turret stuff so can't advise you on them.

Forroster make very nice stuff too.

Hornady does make good stuff. I use some. For a press I prefer my Forster Coax, but it won't allow me to use some dies with micrometer seaters or such, like the Hornady bullet seater as an example! My other press is a Rockchucker, and it is great, the spent primer catcher sucks on it though, and you have to use shellholders, not really a bitch, but it sure is easy using the coax without needing shellholders---it combined with the new RCBS universal priming tool (no shellholders ) is really slick.

Sinclair primer pocket uniformers are slick too!

Redding would be an upgrade from RCBS.

Vapodog, I do have a rockchucker. That would have been work to take. Maybe I will do what BuddyK9 said and replace the pieces with quality stuff and not buy all the same.

if I was starting reloading new again, the press would be Rockchucker....the scale....a balanced beam Ohaus.....from RCBS likely, the dies from Lee, deburring ID/OD Wilson, case trimming from Wilson, calipers from Midway also loading blocks.....spray lube.....Midway (I've been using Lyman and Roger hates it)...[thanks Roger] powder measure from redding and I'd probably buy one of the case prep centers from RCBS...great tool
I'd have a vibro bowl (mine now from Dillan) and the bullet puller is a wire cutter.....some folks call it a fencing pincers.....but it's the best darn puller out there!

One item of Hornady reloading equipment I use and can strongly recammend is their hand held priming tool and base. I have tried the hand primers made by RCBS, Lee, and Hornady, and after priming A LOT of rifle shells, I felt the Hornady priming toll worked the best and offered me the best level of "feel" for consistant primer seating. The Lee was also a quite good priming tool, better than the RCBS, but it was just way to small for my hand for me to use it effectively.

I also use and recammend Hornadys bullet puller. It does a great job fast and does not damage bullets by pulling them. At least not any I pulled out of my 7mmSTW or .338wm.

Over all though, RCBS makes awesome reloading tools and dies. I have and use two Rockchuckers, their scales are second to none and ALOT better than most, their powder measure is a good one. In short you cant go wrong with anything you buy from RCBS, and their CS is also second to none.

I too like the Hornady Cam-Lock bullet puller.

I have a Forster Co-Ax press that I really like. If I were looking for something in the rockchucker class of press, I'd get a Lee Classic Cast press that does everything the rcbs does and more, for less money.

I have used the Lee autoprime, and the new RCBS universal hand primer (with the large square tray), which I like best.

I like Hornady dies, especially their seating dies.

I'd like to try the RCBS X dies for rifles, and their competition (windowed) seater dies.

I like Lee case trimmers and collet-style factory crimp dies, but not the carbide FCDs for straight wall pistol cartridges.

I'd take a good digital scale over a magnetic one any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. I have a cheap FA one that works ok for me, but I've heard a lot of people had problems with. For $29 on sale, I had to take the chance... One of these days, I'd like the RCBS electronic powder dispenser. Before that, I'll likely get the new quick change uniflow powder measure from RCBS.
