can anybody help with loads for the 30 06 ackley, I need info on loads for the 150 and 165 bullets I am using imr4064 52.8 grns for 165 and 56 for the 150,I know imr or h 4350 is indicated but can`t get my rifle to shoot well with it (weatherby mk V 24 inch barrel thanks in advance | ||

just wondering why you recomend using lower max loads for the improoved than the regular 30 06 as listed in all manuals both with 4064 as with 4350, I am lost here thanks for your help | |||

jaslure, I've played around with 150gr. Hornadys and Nosler BT's and found that 55gr. of IMR-4064 was the MAX IN MY RIFLE,(Varget is another great choice, if you get a chance, try it). I used to shoot 52.5gr. of IMR-4064 in the standard '06 before I had it rebarreled and chambered for the '06 imp. I haven't used the 150's for anything alive as the main purpose of this rifle is as an elk slayer with 180's. Accuracy was so-so but I didn't try real hard to get good groups, I was just playing around! If you ever use 180's be sure to try RL22, so far it's hands down the best powder I've tried.
