I am going to be building a 6.5-284 soon.
If any of you out there have any data on loads it is greatly apreciated.
I am extremely intersted in the OAL of the long range loads you are using. I wonder If I can get by with a short action (2.8" to 3.0" max OAL)

Also, doeas anyone have any expieriance with the Black Hills factory 6.5-284 ammo?
Thanks a bunch!

Celt, don`t tell me you`re tired of that 308??

I`d go to www.benchrest.com and ask there. I`ve been led to believe there are a few variations of the round (6.5x284) and that there is a
difference between Norma and Win brass. The BR boys should know and be able to point you to some data and what seems to work best. I`m sure you are doing your own work and know what your chamber is, but it doesn`t hurt to see whats out there.
The new Hornady and Nosler books have data and I believe you can use 6.5-06 data to start as both cases have very similar capacities. I personally would go with a 3.0" capable action to allow the long V-max and other VDL bullets to be seated out a bit. The std 140gr bullets are long and seat quite deep in the case as it is.
Good Luck, I`d be interested to know how it turns out..........Ol` Joe [Smile]

Here's some,

If you are going to hunt with it I would suggest you pick up the latest manuals from both Barnes and Nosler they both have load data for this round.
If you are going to punch long range paper I would suggest you let your smith know what projectile you intend to use so that he can cut the throat to accomodate the VLD offerings on the market.
Good Luck
