Anyone have a suggestion for a load using Hornady 125 gr bullets (#3230) in my 8mm-06? I have IMR 4320, IMR 3031, and H4895 on the loading shelf.
Plan to use for practice and not hunting.
Thanks in advance.

4895 will probably give you the best results w/ such a light bullet.

46gr. 3031, 37gr 4198, 46.5gr 2015, 47.5gr. WCC844, or 48.5gr, 2230-C will get you what you want. BOOMroger

Roger thanks for the suggestion.
I'll load some IMR 3031 at 46 grs tonight and try them over the weekend.

Fred I'll also try some H 4895 at 49 grs and see what happens.

Thanks agian for the advise.

I too hunted rabbits and birds here in the fifties and shot my last bird in the mid seventies. No hunting now. I wish hunting was allowed because of all the deer we have. Several years ago I had 5 large bucks, and I mean LARGE, bed down in my back yard within 30 yards of the house on a regular basis. Found one of their sheds and it bigger than any deer I have shot.
Thanks again for the help with the loads.
Chief

Hi Cheif,

be sure and let us know how those light loads go in your 8mm/06, I too have one, but normally use 170 Hornady RN or 198gr Norma HP's for deer.

Warm barrels,
TheKiwi.

Roger, Minch's Garden Center on Pearl Road was there until a few years ago. A discount tile store now sits on the property. Purchased most of my landscaping items from them when we built our house in Strongsville in "69". Good people.
Hirt's at the corner of Pearl Road (Rt 42) and Royalton Road (Rt 82) is gone also. Now a CVS drug store.
Lots of changes and growth in this area since you were here. Both Middleburg Hts. and Strongsville are large cities now with Strongsville's population about 45'000.
Can't stop growth but I liked the area better in the past.
If you ever get back here let me know and I'll show you around.
Chief.
