Any suggestions for making subsonic 308 Win loads, or does this case still have too much capacity? I'm open to any bullet/powder suggestions, as this is something I'm just starting to think about. The 308 is no 300 Whisper, but is it possible?

I am very sure that subsonic loads are both achievable and not too hard to accomplish. I would start with either the IMR 4759 reduced load powder or the Accurate 5744, commonly used accordingly. Then there is also the old Unique loads which some of the old manuals have for loading "Grouse" loads. I also assume that a heavy for caliber bullet is what you have in mind, so a slow speed is a bit easier to achieve as well. Then when all else fails, try to PM Seafire about his Bluedot experiences...

Good shooting!

cheers

Subsonic 308 is easy to accomplish using an assortment of fast powders like AA2, Red Dot, Bullseye, Unique, Blue Dot, SR 820 (a military surplus powder) and several others. Cast bullets are preferrable since one doesn't want a jacketed bullet stuck in the bore. I did that with a squib load several years ago and never want to repeat getting the jacketed bullet out of a barrel again. Cast bullets work well.

TRy the cast boolit forum where there are literally thousands of posts on loads for lower speeds, a lot of them sub sonic

Actually, I am wanting to use the 210 gr Berger VLD. This is out of a 24" bbl, BTW. Heavy bullets, as 308sako thought. I do understand the benefits of cast bullets for this application, but wanted something nice and slippery so that retained energy at longer distances would be better. What kind of powders besides the real fast pistol powders might work? Thanks...
