Hi Anyone resized 458 rifle bullets to 454, and used them in either a 45 Colt or 454 Casull? Looking at some very sexy 405 grain LBT's, and wondering how they might work...

It's been done. Named the .458 Behemoth. A .458 bore revolver using .458 WinMag brass shortened to 1.4 and 1.6 inches. Ross Seyfried did this if I recall correctly. MM

Sizing a .458 down to .454 could be done, but one would have to do it in at least two steps, say .456 then .454 to avoid excessive deformation.

I have sized down .458 bullets of 525 gr for the 454 Casull Encore single shot pistol with very good results. Velocity is around 1330 fps. Sized them in one step. With the Encore and its long throat the bullets can be seated out thus giving more power. Something that could not be done in a revolver. The same bullet flat pointed in a lathe with a .360" diameter meplat weighs 510 gr. This is getting on up in the power scale considering the size of the cartridge and the gun.
