Heck, I shoot everything from 40s to 63 grainers in mine on a regular basis.. If I had to settle on ONE it would be either a 50 or 52 grainer...  with the 52 and 55gr FBHP Bergers 3 shot groups under 1 1/2" at 300 yds. and 2" groups at 400 yds. have been done repeatedly. The 40 gr. Balistic tip is less than 1" at 200 yds. Believe it or not this is out of a stiff triggered Stevens Mod. 200.  rogerOld age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! My 1-14 twist ruger M77V likes 55 gr sierra spitzers on top of 35.5 gr h4895 or 38 grs h380.. Good luck. | |||

I can't even start to tell you how many reloaders have independently come up with this recipe. I shot a 200 yard .4 MOA group with my sporter .22-250 just yesterday (but substituting Nosler 55 grain S.H.O.T.S. factory SECONDS bullets!) I like the authority that the 55 grainer has in the .22-250, particularly for larger vermin like coyotes, but if you're just shooting colony varmints, a 50 or 52 grain bullet will do as well -- depends on how the individual rifle behaves. | |||
