I'm planning on taking my 270 win for a spring black bear hunt. I shot an elk last year with a 150 grain nosler partition with this gun so I'm gonna try a different bullet for the black bear. I've loaded 140 grain accubonds and 150 grain interbonds. Would one of these bullets be a better choice, if they both shoot well, or is one built tougher than the other. I imagine the extra 10 grains of the interbond would be preferred. Thanks.

if the partitions shot well, i see no reason to change your bullet; having said that, i've heard more good things about the accubond than the interbond; having said THAT, if i were faced with the choice between the two i would go with the interbond becuase i like hornady and would like the extra 10 grains.

I agree with tasunkawitko, It's hard to beat the 150gr Partition. I haven't use the Accubond but have used the Interbond twice. The IB's are accurate, hold together real well but open up quickly.

I shot a large running hog with a 30-06 and 165gr IB. The pig was quartering away and I aimed for the last rib, but the bullet clipped and broke the hip, traveled 20"+ and stopped under the skin on the off side shoulder. The recovered bullet expanded to 7/8" and weighted 162gr.

I consider the accubond and the interbond roughly equivalent. Either will suit your needs on black bear.

flip a coin. Will your hunt be over bait or spot/stalk? If the latter, choose most accurate.

I used Part for years as my SERIOUS bullet. While they performed I never got groups as small as I got with others. The BT being one of the best. I have switched to accubonds in most of my rifles. My performance on game is as good or better than with Part and accuracy is on par with the BTS.

I have never fired an interbond that I remember.

I like the accubonds.

I have used both. My experience is that the interbond (if it shoots well)will open to a wider mushroom and not penetrate as far. Both bullets will do the job with no problem.

Thanks for all the info. I'm gonna go with the 150 grain interbonds.

If they both shoot good the bear wont know the differance.
