I just purchased a Cimmaron Deluxe with 30" barrel. I am looking for hunting load using Lil'gun powder for 230 XTP. What FPS would load hit ? And should I use heavier bullet for deer ? Range will be 125 yds MAX. Any help is appreciated.

What kind of action does this Cimmaron have? Is it an M92 type otr an M73? This will have a big influence on how you can load it, the 73 is very weak, and cannot be loaded too hot with smokeless powders.

The guns I just looked at on the Cimmaron web site ARE NOT capable of using heavy smokeless loads. I'd load them with a Keith-type 250-grain SWC bullet, and as much FFFg (or equiv. Pyrodex P) black powder I could get into the case. This means a lot of cleaning, but is probably the safest way to get a deer load without overstressing the old design.

It be a 73. Should I stay with pistol data ? It doesn't not list lil'gun. Glad I asked ! Thanks for reply.

Stay with STANDARD VELOCITY/Pressure pistol loads if you use smokeless powder!
