Has anyone had any success with the Barnes TSX out of a 7mm STW with H4831? I have a pound of 4831, and my hunting partner is suggesting I leave my tried and true load and go to the TSX. Thanks.

Actually H4831 is quite fast for the 7mmstw even for 140gr bullets.Imr7828,R25 and H1000 provide better velocities especially with heavier bullets. As far as the tsx is concerned,it shoots very accurately in every rifle that I have seen it used in.The 140gr tsx has proven to perform very well on game up to and including elk and moose.

I use the 4831 because at this point I don't load the STW up to its full capability. I am using 139 gr. SST's and they shoot very well, at about 3150 fps. I was just thinking about playing with the TSX and see what happens, in which case I may need to switch powders.

I find H4831 to work very well in the STW. I get 3300 with 160s with excellent case life so it must be in the ballpark.
