What is most important for you when seating bullets in the 45/70 cases...getting the case rim crimped in the cannelure or getting a certain setback from the lands? I'm thinking this is one round where bullet jump isn't as critical, but would like to hear opinions on this.

If we trim our cases carefully and set our dies accurately we can have both. I agree with you though that an effective crimp is more important that bullet jump, especially if loading for a levergun.

Use a Lee factory crimp die too.

Ditto to the above. In the new 1895 Marlin, cartridge overall length is critical. Get it a frog hair too long, and you'll get a really nasty jam. "A cheerful heart is good medicine."

Why is a Lee crimping die better than my Redding seating die?
