I received my Dad's old reloading stuff some time ago.

The single stage press is an RCBS JR3 press. I contacted RCBS via their message on their site and asked them about the replacement ram. I asked if the new ram came with the spring clip as the one on mine was beat up and the ram itself was rusty, beat up and looks like someone took a grinding wheel to the shell holder slot.

They emailed me back and told me that a new one with spring clip was on it's way free of charge.

I wrote back saying that I was ready and willing to purchase a new one (40 bucks).

That is customer service, an old press getting some new guts and keep my Dad's passion going. I used it before, and had good results, but the shell holder part of the ram was beat up bad.

Good Customer service in my book. No questions asked when I inquired, no phone calls, no return on old one.

Yes they do! In fact, every item I have returned due to factory defect (press, dies, shell holders, sizer, punches, etc.) has been handled promptly and professionally....

The problem is I have had to return FAR too many of their brand new unused products due to factory defects. Their quality control leaves much to be desired. I switched to Redding some years ago and have never had a single problem. So, I have no idea about their customer service. I prefer it that way.

However one will be hard pressed to find a company dealing in the reloading trade that isn't excellent in customer service.....

Thst's nice but it's not "free". Your father paid for it in the high initial purchase price.

I called them up and inquired about getting a new end cap on a RCBS chronograph that I had just purchased and had used in the field and LOST.

The guy on the phone asked me if it had fit properly and that might have led to me losing due to a manufacturing fault. I said that I didn't think so and that I was prepared to pay for and asked the cost of the replacement. He mentioned that it might take a while to get a replace part in on a model that was that new and that he would make a note to QC the new chronographs coming in to see if the end cap was fitting tightly. He mentioned that there would be no charge and said it might be a couple of weeks.

About 8-9 days later here came the replacement end cap in the mail with a zero balance due on the invoice. It was clearly my fault that the cap was lost and he was leading me into a conversation that produce a free one. I was very impressed and will continue to buy RCBS.

I agree RCBS has great customer service. But it pains me to see "China" on their new presses. I'll pay a little more for Redding, made in the USA.

You got that right, I just picked up their hand priming tool and I opened the box to see Made in China.

I was half tempted to send it back, but serves me right for not doing my homework.

Yup!! RCBS & Leupold are the 2 outstanding manufacturers in the firearms industry. Too bad that the rest of U.S. industry doesn't follow suit. I've accidentally screwed up some RCBS stuff and it's always been replaced at no cost to me. Even when I admitted that it was my fault.

I'll add timney to the list, whiel not reloading stuff their customer service was great the one time I dealt with them. I had a trigger I'd been "told" was timney but didn't have markings, I called because it wasn't working right in a gun that previously had a timney, I just wondered the adjustment. the guy said to send it in. they sent me a new timney, no charge.

I have only had a couple NEW RCBS sets, and have no complaints on them, all the older sets that I have (from my stepfather) and the press have never given me any trouble at all. I don't have the spring for the primer tray, I use a rubber band. I have not tried redding, and will admit the primer setup on my forster is better, but love RCBS and am glad to hear that if I did have a problem they'd take care of me.
