I will be purchasing an electronic powder drop and scale, but need direction on whether to get the RCBS or the Lyman versions.

Which do you prefer and why?

Sorry I can't help you because I have no experience with either of the models you mentioned, but I would get the Lyman over the RCBS.

Here's why- My brother has a PACT scale/dispenser and it can be pretty slow. Mounting a powder measure over the pan so you could drop 90% of the charge would increase output a lot. It looks like you can do that pretty easy with the Lyman but the RCBS has a covered pan, and even if you leave the cover off looks like it might be harder to do.

Just my uneducated 2 cents, hopefully someone who has actually used both will chime up here.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

The RCBS ChargeMaster is the one you want.

Without Question purchase the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 Combo of the two you listed. The Lyman 1200 takes 30 minutes to warmup and has a lot of serious problems (losing calibration, inaccurate reading at times, Florescent lighting can affect the accuracy, etc) I sold my Lyman and purchased the RCBS CM 1500 Combo and am extremely satisfied with its performance.

I think everything has been told here with no need to expand on the subject.

+1 for the Chargemaster.

I've had both (2 Lymans) and the RCBS is by a wide margin a far better unit.
There is NO benefit from the Lyman and in the UK, the RCBS is over £100 dearer.
