difference in Federal 210 primers?
SmilerWas wondering if the Federal large rifle 210 Match primer was much different than the standard large rifle 210 primer. I have never tried them and the double price doesn't appeal either.

The only difference I have noticed between a "match" primer and a "non-match" primer, is the same as you have noticed...the price.

They are exactly the same except the match has one more visual inspection. Butch

SmilerThanks for the info from some long time shooters! Plain old 210s it is!

Precision shooter did a huge artical once called prime on primer I believe. It showed the 210M performed totally different as far as power, and impact. They had some gadget that showed the distance it would push a bullet with the primer alone, and some high speed photography.

Big Country, you are right. Precision Shooting did an article on primers a few years back. It did not compare the match Federal against the regulars, just against other brands. I believe that it said Federals were pretty consistant, but not as hot as far as velocity as the other brands. This is fine for BR shooters. A lot of us are going to Winchester primers as they shoot as well and they haven't gouged us as we have been with the Federals. I am speaking about benchrest short range{100-200 yds.] shooting only. I do not know about primers in other venues. Butch
