Hello.

I've just got my new Rcbs Chargemaster 1500 Combo, and have tried it a bit.
But there is one thing I cant get to work, and that is the "Auto-dispence" function. I have followed the manual, but when I put the emty pan back on the scale, nothing happends..........

Does anybody have a tip about what I might do wrong? bewildered

The auto dispense mode is a little touchy to get setup. Once you have it in auto mode it stays that way until you switch it back to manual mode.

Make sure there is powder in the hopper then follow the instructions in the manual.

If you press and hold the Enter key and Manual appears on the display that means the machine was in auto mode. Press and hold the Enter key again until Auto is displayed. If you press and hold the Enter key and nothing happens turn the dispenser off and start over again (unplug it then plug it back in if necessary).

When you’re “training†the dispenser and yourself for the first time, keep it simple, enter a small grain weight, say 20 grains. Do not use a Fractional load etc 20.5 grains.

In Auto mode there are 2 things the machine needs satisfied before it dispenses.

1. The scale needs to reset to “0â€.
2. The pan Stable sensor needs to reset.

If you have the dispenser in a location were air current could move over the pan the stable sensor wont reset.

The plastic cover that swings from either side over the pan area is not really a dust cover, it’s to stop air movement on the pan.

Other than that, all I can say is keep playing with it and you’ll get it sooner or later.

It's a great feature, and it took me a while to discover it.

Set on "Auto" I can charge a case and return the pan to the scale to be filled while I seat the bullet.

Like RMiller says, sweet.

Problem solved!! dancing

I have used a new powder-pan, made from plastic (pan-and-funnel in one), and that pan was simply to light to make the Auto-function work. Everything else worked, but not that. Now i have glued a washer under the pan, and everything works just fine....

Thank for trying to help me!!

Merry Christmas! beer

I just set up my new Chargemaster Combo (CC). I had to modify the existing shelf, as the CC sticks out into the room quite a bit. Sadly, it does not look quite as smart as the old arrangement did (old RCBS dispenser/scale set), but that is mostly due to my use of whatever materials were at hand. The CC itself looks pretty shiny and exiting...

Since it was too late to hammer away to fix the power cable, I have yet to hook it up to the power and try it out. Boy, I can hardly wait though... Sadly, the instructions must be read too...

Do you calibrate your unit every time you turn it on?? Do you leave it turned on for a while before throwing charges with it?? How long does it take to throw a charge of approximately 30 grs of a powder like VV N130??

Yes I calibrate every time, it only takes 2-3 min.I leave it plugged in but turned off, to throw a charge like that,in the time it takes to seat the bullet, the next charge will be waiting.. I really like mine, and each charge is weighed, it adds a lot of confidence in your loads.

Hi: I wondered if you got the chargemaster going OK...didn't hear from you about it...probably too complicated for a Norseman Hunter Type! Arrrah!

I love my combo, I use it almost exclusively now. I don't calibrate each time, but I do stick one of the weights into the pan to see if it weighs it correctly--so I guess that is kind of an expedite calibration check.....

One thing to watch for, is when you set a charge weight the dispenser runs real quick til it gets within about 1 to 1.5 grains, and then goes into the 'auto trickle mode' til it gets to the set charge weight. Especially with extruded powders, which most I use are, it will kind of 'bump' the dispensing tube along, and it will stop and sound the signal indicating completion of that charge, but if the last little 'bump' throws more than one or two kernels of powder it will actually exceed your charge weight by just a touch, and not indicate that on the scale display. I check this by removing the pan with the just thrown charge in it, swish it around to level it out and throw it back on the scale. Almost always, I can visually see the last 'bump' drop the right amount, or just a bit much of powder, and learn when to 'recheck' the charge. It ain't a big deal, just something to be aware of and manage as you see fit.

Mike, I throw charges that are typically over 40 grains, but as an example, earlier today I did about 50 rounds that went from 45 to 50 grains of N-160, and I would guess they took about 18-20 econds to dispense---I'll check it later and let you know--but you'll probably have your's up and running before I get to that tomorrow evening.

One of my favorite things about it compared to my Pact unit (who is who builds this for RCBS) is that you don't have to calibrate it for each different kind of powder! That is nice. Just check that it is weighing properly, and then dispense. SWEET! The auto functions is fine, but it ain't that big a deal to push the dispense button after the scale 'zeros out'....that's how I usually do it actually.

Good shooting guys--Don
