bartsche.270 sissy report

20 rounds of 130 grain bullet and 56 grains of WXR from m6.5# rifle really knocked me on my ass today. It did ,however do great at 400 yds.

Here are a couple more sissy loads**********
130 grain bullet, 32.2 grains IMR 4198 Norma cases #34 primers 3.331" oal., 2275 to 2308 fps. 2 1/2" 4 shot group at 200 yds.
Same except 38grains of IMR 4895, 2423 to 2459 fps. 2" group at 200 yds.
The sissy loads were a joy to shoot.

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

swheelerYou danged sissy boy!

I shoot a lot of sissy loads anymore, and the more I shoot them the better I like them. 28 gr of 2400 and a 450 gr cast are a joy to shoot out of my 16.5 inch 458WM, my daughters and wife like them too.

Fish30114Heck Rog, I shot a lot of interpolated blue dot loads in a 270 WSM, around 27 grains with 130 gr Ballistic Tips, and holy moly they were accurate as hell, and really fun to shoot--virtually no recoil to speak of.....Only shot at 100 yards with em, but fun for sho!

seafire/B17GWell Saturday morning I'll have a kid out shooting a sissy load in the 270.. his dad's who is a disabled vet...
on this one, I loaded up 30 grains of SR 4759 with a 110 grain Sierra SP for this season..
I bet you could handle that one Roger..

Have you used that bullet before on deer, John? What is the velocity?

seafire/B17GI haven't used it on deer Roger, but Sierra Recommended it.. MV is in the
2500 fps range.
a 16 yr old kid is hunting with it.. he is a little on the short side.. max range in that hunting area is 100 yds..

seafire/B17GBet you didn't know that they made pellet guns with that big of a bore diameter did ya?
yes, but it has a very healthy stealth factor....

AtkinsonJohn,
Its amazing how well most bullets work on big game WHEN YOU SLOW THEM DOWN...

but thats not in most game plans these days!

Old timers seems to have set in!

Hey I love the "old" low pressure rounds. 6.5x55, 9.3x57.. love 'em. I really have a new respect for the .44-40. Coming out of a 24" 1892 lever gun it has the recoil of a .22 and does a great job at 120 yards.
I reload 135gr 6.5 GC cast lead at 2100fps, 170gr GC .323 at 2100fps and 9.3 285gr GC cast lead at 2300 fps. Fun and deadly loads.
