Just venting but I spent quite a bit in the past on Midway mail order.....And recently I am regretting it...

I called Midway to speak to customer service and vent my anger over their pricing be 10-20% higher than anyone else and all I got was lip service. So I am voting with my Feet!

Midsouth, Powder Valley and PennBullets are my new friends and I am now very satisfied.....on price and quality......

MIDWAY NEEDS TO GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

thumb

I buy from Midway when I can't find it elsewhere.

There is one gripe I have however.....there's a company called "Cheaper-Than-Dirt" and they have a live tech service you can call or go online with.....I know folks to spend an hour with them getting the lowdown and recommendations and then go elsewhere to buy because someone else is cheaper.....this has to be the definition of "cheap"

I must be buying different stuff. The Berger bullets I shopped for at Midway, Graff, and Bruno were all about the same price. Bruno was about $4 cheaper on an order of 300 bullets. Midsouth does not stock them, nor do they stock a lot of what I buy. I'll admit, I don't buy a lot of hunting grade components, but I do buy plinking components sometimes and Midway or Graf usually has what I want at the same or better prices as Midsouth or Natchez. Graf can save some money since the only charge for "handling" and not for shipping.

I think it all depends. I don't have huge orders with anyone anymore. When I see something on sale here or there I try and pick up a couple other items to round out the package and keep the shipping reasonable. Usually Midway is one of the most reasonable at shipping.
Last week Midway had some federal 270's loaded with Trophy bonded bullets (reg about $50) on sale for about $13 per box....they sold out about 900 boxes in 2 days....tell the guys who got that deal they got screwed!!!

Yup....and a few weeks prior I bought two new Leupold 2-7 variable compact scopes for $140 each

Midway does have some great special sales at times.

Midway isn't always the most expensive but their shipping is usually way to high.

I pretty much only buy from them when they have stuff on sale. I've asked why they don't use USPS flat rates & got zip. Free market, shop where you like.

While Midwayusa might be higher on certain items, their customer service is second to none in my book Back in 2000, I mailed in an order and forgot to include shipping and handling charges with my payment. Midway sent the order regardless, with reminder that I had neglected to pay for shipping and handling. I couldn't believe they had not held the order up until they had received all of their money If their goal was to impress my country bumkin a##, MISSION ACOMPLISHED!. Their shipping time is second to none. Midsouth may equal it and Grafs can't touch it. Then then is there website. I like how informative and easy to navigate it is. I do a fair amount of shopping with Grafs, but find myself using Midways website to get the technical product info that Grafs and other website does not include. I have a C&R license and get a dealers discount with Midway. While the discounts are not what they use to be with Midway, they do make themselves competitive with Midsouth. I receive a dealers discount with Grafs, but with their 3% markup on non cash orders (as in paying with credit card), Midway still competes. I deal with Midsouth and Grafs and am in no way slamming them. As far as shipping charges, an $88.00 order I placed this weekend with Midway cost $11.17 to ship. I did have the option to use USPS Priority Mail. It was over $2.00 cheaper, but with the Columbus Day holiday (post office closed), I chose UPS. Flat rate USPS shipping would have been around $9.30. I don't see where Midway is getting over on shipping. On this forum, a few days ago, I posted and complained about an order I had made with T&T Reloading. (6 days after placing that order, I have yet to receive a reply or find that my payment has been accepted) It made me realize how much customer service means to me and how much I take it for granted. Again, in my book, customer service is worth something. Jimmy

I also always use Midway. A while back a thread comes up like this and I checked prices, they all seem to be similar. Also Midway has a better selection of what i mostly use, Woodleigh, Barnes TSX for mostly big bores.

Shipping also seems reasonable to me

The only problem I have is with a back order they will ship on small item then shipping seems like a rip off.

I mentioned they should have a box to check to cancel any BO items.

My last order from Midway they called and said the Nosler brass i ordered was actually out eventhought they said they had 1 box. They said it would be in a few days and they would ship for free. I told them I wanted three boxes so I paid for two more boxes and they shipped all three for free.

Ditto--Also buy from Lester Bruno and Brownells when I can. Frank Brownell does a lot for the shooting industry that is all kept very quiet but they DESERVE our support..

I try to buy reloading stuff locally because sometimes I want to buy a pound of powder or a hundred primers. I hope that by giving them my business they will continue to stock all the oddball stuff I may want.

It is getting tough, because the local shops are 10-15% higher than Midway or any of the other internet dealers - even with the shipping.
