Folks,
I also picked up another 700 .300 win mag today. Has anyone used the 150gr. SSt yet ? Any pet loads? Anybody know the BC of the 150 SSt?

Good Shooting

I can help with one of your questions. The Ballistic Coefficient of the 150gr. .30 Caliber SST is .415.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that the 150 will work better on game at 06 velocities than at 300 velocities...the big 30's are for 180's and 200's IMHO....

I used the 165gr. SST on whitetail last fall. Behind 79gr. of RL22, it was way too much velocity for that bullet. I should have known this, but wanted to see how they held together. The deer is dead, but major meat destruction and no exit wound. Distance was about 125 yds. I believe I'll go back to the good old 180 gr. Nosler Partition for my 300 and keep the SST's for the '06, like Ray said.
I now use the 165 SST's in the 300 for coyotes. Needless to say, it tears them in half! The 150's should work well for predators as well, but I wouldn't use them on big game at extreme velocities.

Thanks for the info. I will probably regulate the SST to groundhogs, crows, coyotes, and feral housecats.

I agree with ray. If you want to shoot 150's, buy a 308

At these velocities, what you need is a bullet capable of receiving high stress.

So, the only sensitive option, in order to avoid bullet disintegration or worst a very bad wound animal, is to use a premium bullet, in particular the monometals, like the Barnes X
