Hey guy,
I just got finished loading some 7mm rounds using RL22. I have variouse magazines, and books that have diff. max loads in, and it makes me nervouse. Anyways, i loaded 3 with 58gr. 3 with 59gr. and so on up to 61gr. Today i went to the local sporting goods store, and i picked up a Alliant reloading data magazine. For RL22 and the 7mag, it just shows one load, which is 61.3gr. It dosnt state if that is a max or min load...so i stayed under that. Can anybody help me out here. I really dont want to hurt the rifle or myself overloading shells. What is the expected velocity for the loads i listed? All comments are appreciated...Thanx again Ryan

Ps. I am using Rem.9.5 primers, and sierra 175gr. SBT's

Ryan,
You might want to do a 57.5 with that, and see. 63 is what I usually do for 150s.

I was loading 69 gr of re22 in my REM.700 for an average of 3077fps with 150gr nos. bt. I have currently loaded 70gr of re22 have not been to the range to check them out. 69gr was ok in my rifle. Always work up a gr or two at a time. fws

I load 69grs. of R22/150Nos. for 3148fps. in my 7mag. This is a comfortable load in my rifle. I also shoot 69grs/R22 with a 160gr. Nos. for 3170fps. This is a stiff laod but the primer pockets last 4 or 5 reloads atleast. 68grs./160gr. bullet would be a better idea.

You didn't say what bullet weight you were loading, but I had great luck w/ 62-64gr RL22 & the 160grNP. Top loads would go break right @ 3050fps from my 26" BBL. #1. It is now a 7mm Dakot & I still use RL22 & the 160grNP. The velocities are closer to 3300fps. It shoots very flat & hits very hard.

Gentlemen,

I really don't like Reloader 22 in my 7 Mag. The velocities are very inconsistent. I have found reloading data ranging from 61-63 gr. as a max load with 175 gr. bullets. I can't get much more than factory velocities with reloader 22, when I can safely exceed factory velocities by 200 fps with IMR 7828, and have better accuracy and consistency. For me, Reloader 22 isn't the powder of choice.
