Now reloading my .222R perfectly with Accurate 2230 (52grs HPBT Sierra,S&B SR primer, 22.4 grs A2230)which gives great precision in my rifle.

I also have a 7mm-08 rifle.

I saw load data for Sierra 150 grs HPBT with A2230 powder. Is A2230 powder also well suited for the 7mm-08 or is it preferred to use another powder ? It's NOT for hunting but precision-shooting at 300 meters.

AA-2230 From 34.2 grains to 38.0 grains Remington 9-1/2 Primer is "usable", but I found RL-19 From 41.7 grains to 51.0 grains Remington 9-1/2 Primer to be better.

I have found varget to be the best in my
7-08improved 45 grains=2970 out of a 20inch barrel. Think it would be just as good in a 7-08 just use loads out of a reloading book.

Finding the exact loads is not a problem, the question was about the type and brand of the powder. Using one powder for both rifles is easy, but wondered if it wouldn't be better to use a more '7-08' specific powder instead of 2230.

I think it's less a "7-08 specific" question and more a "what your rifle likes specific" scenario. If your rifle shoots the way you want it to with 2230-C, then you're set.

As Steve noted, R19 performs well in 7-08's, Frank's likes Varget, mine prefer H4350 (although I've had some excellent results with H4895 and R-15, too), and other guys rave about H414/W-760.

Experiment a little. That's part of the fun.

By the way, that's a FINE looking shooter. Tell us about it.

It's a custom rifle.
Barrel "Frank" 7-08 Match, length 67 centimeter
1-9.5 twist
FN Herstal "Mauser98" Long Action serialnumber 1844, probably based on Steyr M1912, made single-shot, magazine is 'closed' with epoxy (less vibration)
Floating barrel, "manual" epoxy bedded
Timney Gold trigger
Benchrest stock, wood, but sprayed it with metallic car-paint and a decent finish. Logo is airbrushed.
Scope is BSA 9-32*44
For shooting at 300 yards.

'Old' view, not painted yet, other scope, shows barrel.
