I had a couple of pounds of green dot laying around that I picked up in a trade. I was looking for a cheap paractice load for the 40 so I brought a 175 gr lee 6 cavity mold. I casted about 1500 bullets dropped them into water out of the mold sized and lubed them. I couldn't find any green dot loads for cast in any of the books I have. The closest was a 5.3 gr load for a 180 gr jacketed bullet. So I loaded up a few and shot them they seem a bit to hot vel was not very consitent high of 1075 low of 1010. ejection was all over the place. So I dropped down to 5 grs and got a avg of 1015 with only 8 fps SD. ejection was nice most empty falling close to each other. A very nice paractice load. After about 100 rounds thru the gun no sign of leading and fairly clean. Shoots nice, now I might have to buy some more green dot as it works well. But then it is price right along with red dot and herco. A 8lb keg will give me over 11000 rounds. That well keep me shooting for a year or so. | ||
