noslers #4 and 5 manuals
really like vit a voy n-160 powder with their 175 partition ,39.5 grains remington brass win-wlr primer 1-9 twist 26 inch wiseman barrel, does 2288 fps,at 84% load density. nosler also give imr 4350 a good nod 43.0 grains for 91% load density and 2540 fps. got to say ive loaded many 708s for my good friend and i never loaded over 140 grainers. even for this black bear hunt (8-year waite) we chose 130 barnes x boat tail.
load what you want but theres lighter way better bullet choices out there that will not rob powder space.
varget is also steller in the great 708 remington. no flame intended Smiler
regards wave

I favor the 140s and 145s in my 7-08s also but according to the Lyman 48th you can get over 2500fps with a 175 and almost 2700fps with a 160. That'd be a pretty good start toward killin' something I think.
Since moving to WV, I've killed a couple of deer (100# variety) with 154gr Hornady RN bullets and it will smooth lay 'em down.
