I've acquired my first 375 H&H. I've read in an article written by G. Sitton that he has not experienced the need to crimp his loads, in part due to the often full case in many 375 H&H loads, helping prevent bullets from being set deeper from recoil. What has been your experience? Is crimping required? David

I crimp mine. I found that I was getting some bullet set back. I did a small experiment some time back, effectively duplicating field experience whereby one or two rounds are invariably the same ones left in the mag and always replaced before selecting a couple more to fill up before going out again. I left 2 in the mag while firing about 20 shots at practice. The soft tips were nicely deformed and the bullets had set back. If you remember to rotate your ammo you might not need to crimp.

Thanks for the response. I may try the same thing. I read elsewhere that the bullet used makes a difference as to whether crimping is needed. Anybody else have some personal experience here? David

David - For what it's worth, I crimp anything that I'm going to feed from a magazine and all revolver loads - usually with a Lee factory crimp die. It gives me "peace of mind" that the bullet is going to stay where it is supposed to be. Regards, Bill
