Federal cartridge has come out with 300 ultra loaded with 180gr trophy bonded bear claws.Remington did reduce the rim size so standard 404 brass cannot be used.

I see where Rem is coming out with short action mag also based on thier ulta case, from what I've seen it looks a little better than Win.'s short mag. I guess the race is on in thenew and improved line. Wonder why it took so long though. Short and wide has been around for quite a while, guess it just took time to catch on....

Thanks It seems like the new cartridges require special brass. To bad. The best way by my opinion is to use an exsisting case. Why reinvent the wheel.? I seriously hope that winchester will do a long line of long mags. Win brass is better than the crap from remington.

Its a simple matter to form any of the new cartridges from standard 404 brass, cut off, neck down or up, resize and fireform... What a bunch of hype, the blown out sholder etc....the most enduring thing about the 404 and the 375,300 H&H is that long sloping shoulder that makes feeding and extraction so easy and foolproff, the most important aspect of a DGR...and what is more amazing is the number of people that buy off on that sort of thing. ------------------

I resemble that remark - being a Dakota fan and all...
