I need to know the water capacity in grains of water for- A:300 WSM and B:30-06. I need to know this data for probable performance estimate for a new wildcat cartridge based on a .376 Steyre case. By using known data I can interpolate the case capacity and probable performance of an 8mm-376 Improved (40 degree shoulder)wildcat. I guesstimate water capacity of 83grs of water based on a 5% increase for the "improved" version.

Sounds like my case capacity estimate of 83grs of water is pretty close. Based on that I would estimate the performance would be similar to the WSM case. Based on my experience, when a cartridge is necked up from 308 to 8mm, a 10% increase in velocity will be realized for a given bullet weight equaling about 3150fps with a 180gr 8mm bullet, 2950 with a 200grainer. I Think I'll go for it. COL of 3.180" should work just fine in an "intermediate length" Yugo VZ500 M98 action Don G: What does "Quickload have to say about this?
