The one I loaded for like a max load (full case) of RL19. Pretty much matched the max load listed in my Nosler manual.

optic1 ----- You need to refer to loads in the following books, they will give you all you need to find the loads you might want to use. Nosler reloading guide number 6, A-Square book called "any shot you want", the A-Square handloading and rifle manual, Barnes reloading manual number 3. The best reference I have ever found is an artical by Layne Simpson about he and Kenny Jarrett building the first STA. In that article you will find a 225 grain load with 96 grains of RL-22 and a 225 grain bullet at 3211 fps. All I can say is proceed to those max loads with the usual caution. Sorry, I left out the Article publication mentioned above. September 1992 Shooting Times. This article gives loads from 180 grains up to 300 grains, which in my opinion make the .358 STA one of the most versital chamberings available.

Don't have the exact number stored in my swiss cheese brain. As I remember it was a compressed load or right at (if not) 90grs of RL19 the 225 BT (before accubonds) from a 26" . Velocity was just under 3100 (3065-75 I think been too many years). I built it played with it same time I was doing 7STWs and was offered WAY more than I had in it and accepted the offer. Replaced it with a mannlicher stocked 358Norma.


Interesting QL calls 96grs of RL22 as 67,000+ and 114% fill rate. So like he said START LOW and use a long drop tube. I always felt that Simpson was very optimistic on what he published for both the STW and STA.
