Im using 42 grains (suggester max from Nosler) of Varget under a 70 grain BT. Accuracy is good velocity is 3520 fps. I'm using Lapua brass, but my primers are getting extended rims around the pin crater. I need to use this rifle tonight and can't re-zero if I drop the load by 1 grain. I'm using Lapua brass in an Ultralight Weatherby. Should I drop the load and hope that I stay close to zero, or do I use the load. I'm not sure if the primers show a dangerously high pressure. If other pressure signs are good then I would use the load tonight. How is the initial bolt lift effort and the case head expansion on new brass? While I don't know your barrel length the velocity is rasonable also. Join the NRA

Agreed, If you're not getting a sticky bolt, I wouldn't worry about. BTW, I'm thinking that dropping a grain would drop your POI about 6mm, no big deal. Jay

jf, 41.0 grains of VARGET and the 70 grain Nosler BT is one of my "go to" loads whenever checking out a .243 I'm working on for someone! I've seen several get worse accurracy when upping to 42.0 grains. Maybe it was just the 5 or 6 that I've tested but 41.0 grains seems to be the right combo for my testing and varmint killing accurracy. As far as POI shifting from 1 grain drop, I'd expect the 100 yard POI to be so close you wouldn't know the difference. GHD Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

use the load.....drop one grain later when you have time to rezero the gun. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Hi all. Shot the gun/reload combo to no ill affect. I'll down load to 40.5-41 and go from there. Cheers DW
