In a recent post someone commented that I might be a troll. Curious what everyones definition of a troll is exactly and what would cause a person to be labeled as one.

A troll is an attempt to start a prolonged flame war, a fierce argument with rude, personal insults. Usually, a troll is an article that is so outrageous, insulting and stupid that you feel you _have_ to reply. You can often recognise it because it is crossposted to several groups (very few articles posted to more than three groups are worth reading). If it is posted by someone you never saw posts from before (especially if they are using an anonymous account), that's a good sign of a troll. Often, it will flagrantly violate basic netiquette.

Come on, don't you know what a troll is? It's a height challenged guy who lives under a bridge with a spiked club that he beats passerbys with. They're usually ugly too, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. I thought everyone knew what a troll was. Matt

A troll is obviously a person who caters to the needs of many members of a bulletin board. Simple supply and demand. Mike
