FOLKS,
I was wondering if anyone has any expierence with James Calhoon's .22 bullets in 42gr.wt.
I was thinking of trying them in my 20" Bullberry 22K Hornet. For groundhog shooting I think the 35gr VMAX may be too light-I don't know as I just got this barrel. I use 45/50gr bullets in my 223 Rem & didn't think they would work in the little 22K . The Calhoon 42gr. are in between-what have you all been using.
I must admit I was totally shocked at the accuracy of "FIRE FORMING "LOADS in the small 22K Hornet. I had never shot or read much about them until now & after sighting in ( with a pos scope )the first group at 50 yards was a 1/2" & at 100 yards -from a rest/bench-the group measured 1/2" for 10 shots. I have been shooting for almost 52 years & was just ignorant of these fine small calibers.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Just the 46 grain double HP. shot as well as Bergers, and is rather pretty... .22 Hornet 1949 BRNO 2.5 X 8 Leupold VX3 double set trigger.

I've heard some good things about them, haven't shot them yet. They ARE on my shopping list FWIW.

Apparently they do quite well from a .223, but that's only a rumor from Montana I heard. Big Grin

I have used the 37 grain HP and the 42 grain HP in 223s... I love them...

even the 37 grain is a long bullet for its weight, and that large hollow point really opens up on prairie dogs when you crank up the velocity to around 4000 fps...which the 223 will do, with RL 7....and Benchmark...

digital Dan.... I think you will like them when you get ahold of a batch of them.... mgun = gunsmile
