Just finished the Range Report on the Blue Dot and the 243. I have had a lot of requests for all sorts of different bullet weights for the 243. There are a lot of 6mm bullets on the market!!! I did not test out the following 65 grain VMax, 70 grain Anything, 85 grain anything, or 90 grain anything. I DID test: 55 grain Ballistic tip, 60 gr Sierra HP, 75 grain Hornady HP, 80 grain Winchester SP, 87 grain Hornady SP, 95 grain Ballistic Tip, 100 grain Hornady SP and 105 grain Speer SP I can;t find any 70 grain bullets locally, and the 87 grain Hornady seemed like a good compromise for the 85 and 90 grain bullets. I do have some 65 grain VMax bullets, but chalk it up to laziness. If time permits, I will test those I did not test on this run. It is high school graduation, and my family is involved with Scouting which is starting to take a lot of time with summer activities coming up. I am the committee chairman for the scout troop my son belongs to. seafire@charter.net Cheers and Good shooting seafire

Don;'t know if this is getting lost, so I am putting it back up on the top of the forum. I am getting a lot of request emails from members to ask me to test the 243, so evidently this post is not being seen. If you want a copy of the report, post it below here. In my tests I have found if you are looking for a beginning rifle for a youth to grow into for hunting and shooting, I found more versatility in a 22/250 over a 223 using blue dot powder. The 243 even offered A LOT more than the 22/250, in my opinion. One could still get useful velocity out of the bigger game bullets, like the 90, 95, 100 and 105 grain bullets. I REALLY like the 243 and blue dot. For those that may be interested the round I am testing now is a 260 Remington . Wish I had a 250 Savage to test, that looks real promising also. However for bullet selection, the 243 is hands down the winner, in versatility with varmints to deer size bullets available. Cheers and Good shooting seafire

To ALL folks desiring Blue Dot load data... for some reason, this post has resurfaced.. as it was posted back in 2004... during a brief time when AR was changing servers, I lost my handle and info, so re registered as B17G... If you are sending PMs to that name, I have long lost the passwords etc.. THEREFORE, IF YOU SENT A PM THERE, I WON'T GET IT... So please send PMs to seafire2 or seafire/B17G...I'll be happy to oblige you... seafire/B17G is being phased out by me eventually here... I will also post this as a seperate topic... best regards seafire Life Member: The American Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Jan 20, 2009..
