| Nosler 52 HPBT in a Howa Mini 24" 26.5grs of 2230. Don't have the velocity but a quarter will cover a 10 shot group

| I shoot 52gr serria match kings out of all my 224 bolt guns Bal-c 2 or wcc44 work very well.
Thousands of dead p-dogs a few yotes, other varmints and a couple of deer are no longer alive because of them. |

| Thanks for the suggestions. I have a Savage mod 10 that I have worked out great loads for heavy .224 bullets. I pick up a lot of .223/5.56 brass at the range, so it is cheap to reload and shoot. I got this Mossberg MVP 26" 1/10 twist to shoot 55grain and lighter bullets. If I can't, I guess I'll have to build one. Oh well, it keeps this old retired guy busy. |

| While not the speed burner, my rifle likes 25.6 grains of W748 behind the Calhoun 52 grain DHP RBT or Sierra 52 grain Matchking.

| I had a Rem 722 in 222 with the 1:14 twist and 26 inch barrel. It liked max loads of RL-7 with a 52 gn HPBT SMK. I am not a speed demon and that is probably the only time I ever approached max load in anything. It shot below dime sized groups all day and night at 100 yards. Those would be 3 to 15 shot groups or however many. That gun was a shooter. My son traded it in on a brand new Browning A-Bolt in 223 with a BOSS. That gun was junk! I want to say that the standard load for a 223 and 52 gn SMK was 25 grains of 748 back in the day. We just inverted the 52 to 25 was how I remembered it. If the 52 gn SMK HPBT doesn't work, try the 53 gn SMK HP. ETA: Retired 11B4P

| I would bite the bullet and go with 69 gn HPBT SMK's with that 1:9 and try H-335 or 748 for convenience - easy metering straight through the powder measure. Guys run RL-15 HOT with 69 gn SMK's but that will have to be weighed and forget about shooting them on hot days in the sun.

| Thanks guys. Gives me a good variety of powders and loads. I think I probably have enough HD 55gn ammo and now concentrate on accuracy. I really enjoy shooting accurate loads. A trip to the range for me is usually about 100 rounds downrange and pick up up to 1,000 hulls. I like to enjoy each shot nowadays, but still enjoy others burning up rounds in ARs. I'm heavy on Varget and H335 and just got 8 lb. of ac 1680 for subs in my 300aac. I have random other powders that I will try around your recipes. |

| airgun 1: I hope you don't us that inversion rule for 75gn .223. Good to meet another 11B4PR. I enjoy my old unit blogs. After 50 years we're still in touch. I am constantly looking for cheap match bullets. Any suggestions? |

| There is some info here: http://www.accurateshooter.com...ridge-guides/223rem/With the MVP I'm guessing you're out of a magazine? Can you get anything close to the lands and still fit the mag? With my 1:9 223 the 50gr vmax and 70gr vld worked well at the lands. I tried some super cheap 55fmj and they were all over the place. I think I'll try loading them backwards just to see if they're better. |

| jpl: I haven't measured the chamber yet. It is a 5.56, so I have a little more leeway. I just waited my 7th day on a "4 to 5 workingday" delivery delivery from Mossberg. I went through the mvp again and torqued everything again in case it settled since a few days ago. Just cleaned it again also. I loaded up some Hornady 52 gn hpbt 2249's with H335 on both sides of 25gns. It's a start. Come on parts. |

| I like 52 grain SMK and 25 grains of H335 in a Lake City or PMC case primed with CCI450's. You should be there with what you loaded.

| Thanks for the help guys. Parts finally came in from Mossy and I went to the range with my new loads. Tried 24.6, .8, 25.0, .2, and 25.4 grains of H335 and 52gn hpbt, CCI 450, and LC brass. Got two groups a little under 1" at 100 yds with 24.8 and 25.4. The other 3 were 1.5" or more. Think I will load up more of the 1" loads and check repeatability and see if I can tighten (me) up a little. I'm going to try some under 24.6. Hodgdon lists the max load for 50 gn at26.0 and 55gn at 25.3. That makes loads over 25.4 look a little iffy to me. Next time I will chrony and see what they look like. |

| I'm closing in on the right load to start with. This is the second day at the range. The first day with H335 loads didn't fare well. No good start groups. The groups shown are at 100 yds with a Savage mod 10fp 1/7 and my new Mossberg MVP 1/9. They seem to both like these loads. Well, I don't know how to post pictures on this post Guess I will have to find out how. Any help out there? |
