For the 68 gr Hornady in the 8" twist I concur with Varget, start at 23 and work up to a max of 25.5 gr.

My favorite .223 load is one that works !. Unfortunately I've yet to find a single load which preforms in all of my .223's !.

My most accurate load to date for My Bushmasters 5.56 is 68 69 grain Hornady an Sierra filled with BLC-2 25.5-26.2 .
Now those are nowhere near max loads but accuracy is OUTSTANDING in My AR'S Same loadings with Varget are also Fly swatters although you may want to check for pressure signs with Varget if your upwards of 26.0 grains . I've had best results staying off the lands about .008-12 .

In my .223 bolt rifles I've had excellent results with H 335 an Varget . I've also seen excellent results with RL 15 , unfortunately not out of my rifles . I might need to purchase some of it first !!!.

A 77 grain Sierra or 75 hornady either loaded at max magazine length would be better. RL 15 provides best results but Varget is a close second.....
