I need a set of forming dies for the 44 Automag, any idea who makes them? Anybody got a set they want to get rid of?

RCBS makes 'em, they're a bit pricey. I had a used set, but sold them a while back.

I had a set too. Years ago! Basically after you have cut down a 30-06, 308, 270 or whatever case you have to INSIDE ream it. Using a lrge T-Handle reamer of the same diameter to inside ream 44 Magnum or 444 Marlin.

After that you pretty much have your 44 Automag cases.

So. If you have access to a lathe and can cut down the cases and then ream out the inside of the cases you don't really need the RCBS set. Just a case trimmer.

Essentially the reamer die could be made by getting an old 30-06 sizing die and drilling a half inch hole through the top.

Run up your cut-down case and ream away.

This so as to allow a inside reamer with a half inch shank and a .429" (or thereabouts) reamer to pass through.

Then just ream away.
