Is there a good source for reduced loads like the Remington Power Levels for their Ultra Mags?

I'd be interested in finding data for a 300 Weatherby Mag that loads down to 308 and still fills up the case. Same with the 7mm STW.

Thanks,
QD

aa8700, H870, IMR5010,and 5020 will allow you to do that, but some of the powder will go unburned. When you say .308 levels I presume your thinking bullets lighter than 180 grains.
Perhaps Jeff Bartlett still has some reasonaly priced 5010 and 5020beerroger

I think the Speer manuals have comprehensive low-power load data for most cartridges.

Starting loads for the 300 WTBY in most books will be in the 30-06/308 range. I`m looking at the Speer #13 right now and a starting load for IMR4350- 150 gr bullet = 2953 fps and a 180 gr with the same powder goes 2637fps.
As far as filling the case you will have to find a mighty slow powder for that, and as already noted, it won`t burn properly and likely will be dirty and inconsisant in velocity

I was just out shooting a 300 Weatherby this afternoon, with reduced loads as the rifle owner was having recoil issues with the rifle and full power loads, 180 grain Federal Premium ammo.
I loaded up some 125 grain Nosler BT bullets, with IMR 4007SSC powder, mainly 'cause I had some on the shelf. The load was very accurate, and kicked about like a 308; not bad.
The rifle owner then shot the rifle after I confirmed the load was safe, and he dropped his first two shots in the same hole at 100 yards, which he's never done before with any rifle. Needless to say, he is a very happy 300 Weatherby owner, now that he doesn't have to face getting beat by up shooting it.

I would contact Accurate Arms's ballistician, Johan at this linky:

ask this guy

Ask about reduced loads using their 5744 powder. Johan is very good and responds quickly.

SPEER 9 (1974)
300 WEATHERBY MAG
SR-4759
110 GR SP 21.0gr 1712fps - 25.0gr 2024fps
150 GR Spitzer 25.0gr 1736 - 29.0 1987fps

There are additional loads for other bullets. Sometimes the older manuals are fun. Lyman 49 will give you cast lead loadings for the 300 Weatherby Mag.

I am working on a load for my .300 Rum with 150 gr BT and SR-4759. I am looking at 308 velocities.

Hope this helps.

That's very helpful. Thanks. I'll have to check the new Lyman!
