Anyone out there reload for this? I've got an old Winchester and I was wondering how folks handle the neck length, or do you just not worry about it? I'm thinking of using .280 Remington brass for the extra length, does anyone know exactly how much longer the 03 is, compared to the 06? I've read its either .07" or .1" longer. I'm assuming .30/06 dies will work fine, or am I mistaken? thanks

Tim

I would recommend .270 brass because you can find once fired easily if you have to have a little extra length. Otherwise just use .30/06 brass.

The factory "sporting" 30-03 round I have measures 2.559 for the case length.
The 30-03 military loading was a 220gr RN (same bullet as the Krag used), when the military went to the lighter 150(ish)gr spitzer style bullet they didn't need the longer neck anymore.

You can use 270 brass to get the longer neck, or simply use standard -06 cases (and never have to worry about trimming)
