Posted a while back about reloading for M1a and one response I got made me think a tad. The guy said that M1a's are set up for a max case length of 2.045. So is this true or a mis print and if so you dont really need to trim except to uniform do you? Thanks!

My Speer book says to trim to 2.005", with max. case length at 2.015". My Hor. book say to trim to 2.005", with max. length at 2.015".

I trim for my M14 type rifles, USGI barrels, at 2.010".

I know what the book max and trim to lengths are. In Larry Gibsons report on the X-die is where I read the 2.045 and that most M1a match shooters would throw out brass before they had to trim because of this generous chamber length. Take a look at his post.
