How many loadings?

On average how many loads should one expect to get from a 1 pound container of powder? I know it depends on how much used for each different load, but a GENERAL idea is what I'm looking for. 200-300 rounds, 400-500 rounds, etc.? I'm planning on starting out with Hogdon's Tite group and loading .40 cal. Obviously since I'm new I will be loading "light". Thanks in advance for your help! beer

Being that Titegroup is a super-quick burning powder, you'll get a lot more loads from a pound of this powder than say, HS-6, which is much slower thus requiring more powder. I could never get a good shootin' load out of Titegroup in my .45 ACP however.

College calculus is required for this computation.

Divide 7000 by the weight of your load...

Ok, I already said I was obviously new to this. I'm trying to decide if I want to get into this and since I haven't done it, I didn't know how many grains are in a 1 pound container. I apologize for asking such a basic, elementary question. On the other hand, I do appreciate the helpful info some of you provided.

You do not need to apologize to anyone. I re-loaded for many years before I thought I needed to know how many grains in one pound of powder. There will be many more questions as you proceed in re-loading. Do not be afraid to ask.

Hey Mike,

Don't be afraid to ask questions, everybody was a rookie once. Yeah, you'll get some smart ass answers around here now and then. But I'll tell ya what, there is a wealth of knowledge here, too.

Hey Mike, Be sure to check the Jug to see how many ounces were sold to you.

Hodgdon has gone to "reducing" the amount on some of the newer Powders. I think some are sold in 14oz. amounts - but that could be full of beans.

Anyone feel free to correct me on that.
