Pardon the formatting, as I copied this from excel... This is a chart I'm working on(looks better in excel) but do you think I'm in the right ball park with testing, should I be testing in .5 grains or possibly .2? Also some in the testing are known loads that's just to 'double check' that it's a good load as i didn't have enough to test that certain load before.

Thanks!!!

( The die setting is just what I set my Micrometer on my Redding die to in order to get the correct Ogive....Notice that Sierra's ogive is way different than Hornady's for the 40gr bullet)

Does anyone use the chat room?

The 'format' is fine - it's the best one can do.

Have you actually tested any of these loads? (I no longer load and shoot 223 - traded it in on a 22 hornet - and my powders are not on your list).

Mighty fine shooting with all the groups in the 2s and 3s. Speaks well for the Trigger Yanker.

1. I have the loads in 'testing' loaded up, just waiting on time to shoot.

2. It's the stock trigger... what do you think you could shoot with what I have to offer?

Looking at your Bullets, the only one like them I currently have is a 50gr Nosler B-Tip. I use Benchmark Powder with it and it "might" dip into the 4s for 3-shots if my shooting form is on track. Rifle is a 20" S&S 223Rem M7 with the excellent "old style" Factory Trigger. Currently has a 6.5-20x VariX III on it, but that changes from time to time.

Ageing and a lack of practice is tough on maintaining a proper shooting form for me.

Hey WiNdTeCh!

I don't understand why you need to test anything else! With groups that tiny, I'd have stopped a long time ago and just enjoyed hitting tiny targets a different ranges with my gun that shoots like a laser!

My goal is to get each bullet I have shooting at least .250. I just sold my noslers as i can't shoot those at all. but i have 500 52gr A-Max's and 100 on the way from back order that I thought would shoot good but am finding to not be the case... so I bought 500 50gr Blitzkings for P-doggin'... I look everywhere for loads for 1:14 twist barrels but I can't seem to find anything so I guess I'd like to start something... I'm Also using a Sim's Limbsaver Barrel De-Resonator, and once I find a good load I'm going to start moving it up and down my barrel to get that load even tighter... maybe...

A decent beginning rule of thumb to save some time and money is to try approximately a 1% charge variation. Thus a 30 grain load would be in the 3/10's range or a 50 grain charge would be a 1/2 grain increment. is of course for the initial ladder test, or spread.

Here are some pics..... Hopefully this weekend I'll get out and shoot some of my test loads. Hopefully they will beat some of my other groups. P Doggin' this year I plan on shooting my AR-15 a lot more than my Cooper. June 17th I leave for Rapid City... I'll get some pics of that too! Some of my numbers on the targets are .001 larger than that in my table above, that's only because excel take the 0 off... so .240 has to be .239 in excel... oh and that load data sheet I put in the first post... It's in my reloading bench picture...

Also in the picture is a Shooting bench... Personalized and made by a friend of mine... he's looking to make and sell them for 450$, if you've ever seen and RCBS one for like 360$ in person.... I think you'd laugh... wish you could sit and use this bench... It's amazing!

I hope your friend does well in his bench 'enterprise'. beer

Mine is built into a cupboard in my bedroom. I wouldn't recommend it but it does work. (It's too messy to show a pic). Roll Eyes

I agree at least for bolt action rifles... now when you have a hungry AR-15... a Dillon may work better... Wink

I still haven't gotten to shoot my test loads yet as I'm in Odessa TX right now.... I'll be home this weekend and if it doesn't rain I'll probably have some new data!! dancing

I can't believe today! Maybe It's that I had no Caffeine but here is what I have after shooting only 4 of my Test Loads....

50 gr. Blitzking 2.327 152 Rem 7 1/2 H335 26.5 0.105 dancing

50 gr. Blitzking 2.327 152 Rem 7 1/2 N133 25.5 0.205

50 gr. Blitzking 2.327 152 Rem 7 1/2 Benchmark 26 0.229

My other group was.450 and not worth putting down on my chart it was 24.5gr of H322... I can't believe 1 gr of powder can make .220 of a difference... good learning! clap

That is copied off of my load sheet in excel same as first post... meaning.... My best 4 shot group out of 4 test loads was ....... .105 +/- .010 .... (yes I'll get pics, hopefully Tuesday) and the other two follow closely... 3 test loads have beaten my old best scores... I'm ecstatic today... as Wednesday I'm leaving to go P'Doggin in South Dakota... I also shot my AR-15 today just to make sure it's sighted in and shot what looked (by eye) a 3/8" maybe smaller group.. just messing around with old ammo... I was pleased... I'll stay away from caffeine from now on.. coffee

well fellas.... while in South Dakota last weekend and my wife was away with her family... my house was broken into and robbed... I don't have pictures yet from the police, as nobody was home while they were here taking picture it shows the carnage, unfortunately I'm up to $12,000+ in stolen items, but the good thing is they left me my powder and primers, they took all my brass and my primed brass and all of my bullets aswell. When i left it looked just as you see it in the pictures above, so my dies were sitting out and calipers and everything, but they didnt take them... hell the dies are 200$ on midway (redding comp)... I just urge all of you to take pictures of everything and save all your receipts as the insurance company isn't going to help that much. Luckly it's owners insurance and not renters insurance but they still only give me the depreciated value of things so i'm probably out atleast 4-5,000 dollars from this, they took my Beretta Neos 22 handgun, my mossberg 835... i'm just thankful my wife and 2 month old boy (named cooper after my rifle) wern't home... just please write down serial numbers, take pictures, save reciepts, make sure you lock windows and doors(i did but they broke 2 door jams to get in) put up fake security stickers at a minimum... just dont think it can't happen to you, i live in a town of less than 10,000 in a very non violent state of iowa.... it can happen...

There isn't much good that can be said. I'd imagine your loss has most of the folks thinking about their own firearms and if it would be easy for someone to steal their firearms.

Probably close to 50 years ago my Father mentioned to me that if there was something real nice I wanted, that I should "save-up" enough money and buy it. Don't get something that I'd look at in a month or so and think, "I should have waited and gotten XXXXXX instead." Then Insure it because some lowlife is sure to want it too.

I had a `66 Corvette stolen from me in `71 and of course it was insured. Got the Vette back before the insurance check arrived. Then I kept it locked up in a garage with a chain around the Clutch and Brake pedals and through the steering wheel. Along with a nice size dog. Couldn't enjoy the Vette anymore and sold it to a guy I worked with.

Of course, now you have your previous experience base to draw from and may want to change some of your new Firearms into something you didn't have.

Have you thought through what you plan to replace the stolen ones with?

I just want people to take away from this that it can happen to you, so before toys invest some time and money into making safer for your family and make sure you have serial numbers, receipts, pictures of everything... EVERYTHING... I'm only 24yrs old and I've had a lot happen to me by this age, and it's all a learning experience... just think if this didn't happen until i was 40 and had just obnoxious amounts of things that were stolen... And just know insurance is a joke, they are not based on trust only fact... I have little to show them to prove what I owned....

Your NRA Membership also covers some of the loss. But you do need flicks and Receipts.

Had a buddy "loose" a nice rifle when he left it on the toolbox in the back of his truck instead of setting it in the cab.

He filed a Police Report. Then his Homowners Insurance picked up part of it(as you mentioned the Depreciation) and the NRA Insurance got almost all the rest.

I agree, take the flicks of firearms and receipts, put them on a few CDs or Flash Drives, and store the CDs/Flash Drives at a neighbors and a Bank. Update as needed.

Might as well cover the tools, clothes, kids, etc., while into it. I seem to remember one of the Insurance Companies(maybe all of them) have a Room by Room Inventory Sheet. You can probebly locate it on their web sites. I do remember looking at it and realizing they had a lot of stuff listed I'd probably never think of mentioning.

Yeah it's pretty crazy when every day i find something else missing, you don't know whats missing until you go to get it or use it. I'm only 24 and I have thought to join the NRA every time I go to a gun show but then I just never get it done... I need to get that done asap! Luckily I had my expensive guns with me. Well Family Guy is on... I'll be back tomorrow Smiler

That "bump" was a reminder to get off my rump and go update my serial #'s and inventory pictures. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, I am calling my insurance agent to ask about adding a rider for my guns and such. We just bought our first home and we have a "replacement value" policy on our homeowners ins., but I think only $1,000 is towards firearms.

Someone told me that you had to get every firearm individually appraised. Is that true? I hope not.

I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way. I know all to well what that is like. In fact, I think my epitaph will read: "He learned the hard way".

Best of luck to you. I hope you got a check by now from your insurance company.

And this is a side note, but do you have a trail camera? I used mine to catch thieves in my (now) wife's apartment when we were away on our honeymoon. She thought I was being paranoid when I set it up at first, but was thankful that I had upon our return. The police thought it was the best damn thing since sliced bread. It took 64 30 second clips of d infrared pictures and video. BUSTED!!

They don't sell this model at Cabela's or Bass Pro, and stay away from the non-video model they just started selling at MidwayUSA.

It's called the HCO Scoutguard 550V. $229 here:

I've gotten a 700$ check for the doors so far is all.... no check on my personal property. The replacement value is what they say.... they depreciate everything..... alot!

Also I've joined the NRA and bought myself a new Kimber Custom Shop Eclipse to carry now that I went and got my Concealed Carry Permit.

I will be buying that trail cam as soon as I get a check from the insurance co. Thank you very much!!!
