Barnes X load starting point needed
Hello,
Want to make up some 22-250 rounds using the Barnes X bullet, the 53 or the 50 grainer.

I have heard these are finicky, before I waste a ton of them, just want to get a consensus on what has been proven?

Also is the XLC the same performance as the X just with a coating?

My opinion is that the XLC is the way to go. If you are dealing with hunting accuracy, I have had good success taking a middle of the road powder for the cartridge, and letting the bullet jump about .05 (or more). The XLC will take about 1 to 1.5 grains extra powder in the 223 case. Call the technical line at Barnes, they will give you the powder they use for their accuracy testing. HTH, Dutch.

Barnes has just issued their latest reloading manual and stongly suggest you buy and read it carefully...they talk, in a very clear way how to make their bullets shoot the best. If you are going to shoot Barnes bullets, you need the book.

Where can I get the new manual? I have been waiting for it to come available for months, but it still hasn't showed up in any of the gun shops in my area. Is it available online anywhere?
