My son has a weatherby Vanguard in 270 winchester and we would like to try 150 Sierra spitzer BT's. We have several manuals but no Sierra manual and
I know it's a mistake to cross reference manuals. I would appreciate starting and max loads for this bullet from anyone who has the manual. We have pretty many powders that would work and we always used 130 gr Interbonds. Thanks for the replies...PaLuke

I cross reference all my loads and use several manuels and load data to determine where to start. load data is only a reference to a give bullet weight and powder. if you pick a powder for a 150 gr bullet from any reloading data source always start low and work up to a maximum load. I do not recommend selecting a powder and bullet then load to max.
I have loaded a few.
sierra loads listed. 150grn sp
imr 3031 41 to 45grs 2800v
imr 4895 41.9 to 46 2800v
imr 4064 42.3 to 46.5 2800v
imr 4320 43.1 to 47.4 2800v
I like the imr4064

I disagree......as long as your looking at traditional cup and core bullets you can use any manual for anyone's bullet. (assuming you're "working up")

Just make sure that the same weight of bullet is used.

PaLuke.
Sierra lists an accuracy load as R-22 53.7 gr
for 2800 fps.
It also lists a hunting load as R-22 55.2 gr.
for 2900 fps

These loads are from my Sierra manual and indicate the powders I would use.

I consider some powders listed in this manual to be too slow for the 270 win and 150 grainers.

These are the powders I would try.

    H4350 52.0 grains for 2900fps
    IMR-4831 54.7 grains for 2900fps
    H4831 SC 56.2 grains for 2900fps
    RE-22 55.2 grains for 2900fps
    H1000 57.8 grains for 2800fps

These are listed as max loads so use caution.
