I went out to reload some 375 H&H and the brass was just terribly tarnished (in the tumbler now). I don't understand because it is stored in the same place as my other ammo. I have never had cases tarnish this badly. Is Federal brass more susceptible to tarnish than othe brands? (I usually use win). Or are certain batches of brass more prone to tarnish than others? thanks Red

I think not. possible ? yes. More than likely it is due to the handling prior to storage. If it is stored in card board cartridge boxes or some other active container that could be the offending agent. Or not. roger (I usually use win). Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! I have a supply of Federal as well as other brands of brass and Federal brass does not tarnish any worse than the rest of them.

Dago, I guess it must just depend on the batch you get, but every batch I've ever got tarnishes more easily than any other brass I've used--which is damn near everything, except maybe lake city--so there is a differing experience--sort of like your's I guess. Good Shooting--Don

FWIW I've used about every mfr of brass known and not found any to tarnish faster than others. As has been said the storage medium and ambient conditions play a significant factor.

i figure it has to be the batch of brass. I store all my ammo in its boxes, the cardboard ones, in teh same cabinet. I didn't handle this unnecessarily. And I had already polished every case by hand with brasso once. I guess it really doesn't matter in the scheme of tings as long as it isn't so bad it gets in the chamber, I just hate the way it looks. thanks for the replies guys. Red
