Ammoguide has rather tame loads for the 6.5x55 Swede, i.e., less than the RWS offering which no longer seems to be available in US. Have modern 6.5x55 rifle so would like something other than the anemic loads currently offered by US ammo mfgs.

Anyone know a factory source, or someone who can load to at least the RWS specs at a reasonable price.

Thanks

I have developed many loads form my Sako hunter and Winchester M70 with 125 gr nosler Partitions and 139 gr Hornady PSP and 160gr RN.

My favourite powders have been IMR 4831, H4350 and VV N160. I understand that Ramshot Hunter is also great but I have not used it. I would try these with a Chronograph and stop at 2950 fps for 125gr, 2750fps for the 140gr and 2550fps for 160gr bullets. These loads gave me long case life of over 10 reloads.

Good luck on a fine caliber.

The idea the 6.5x55 is down loaded in the states today is not true. A look at the data in some of todays manuals shows velocities above the speeds in the VV manuals with most bullet weights and claims of pressures in the loads to be as high as CIP standard (~55.1K PSI)or in Speers case slightly over it.
Speer loads to 58Kpsi in their #14 manuals and claimed 50K+ CUP vs 48K CUP SAAMI standard pressure in their older #13. Nosler loads to higher claimed velocity then Speer with 120gr and 140gr bullets. Nosler claims velocities of +3000 fps with 120gr and almost 2800 fps with 140 gr bullets from 24" barrels. Speer is about 100 fps slower from a 22" tube.

Norma has lower max loads now than 2001. VV has varied on their max loads 2004-2008.

VV n560 and the new norma URP is top performers for 6,5*55.

URP are fast for 3006 too.
